OCSU Districts: Reconfiguration Options: Bring your phone for interactive participation!

Today, OES welcomed its new team into the building to participate in in-service activities as a K-4 school. Our PTCA was excited for the opportunity to provide a little treat and greeting card to those new faces.
There is still a lot of work to be done as we move to the sister-school model, but we are committed to supporting our school and the greater community during the transition. Stay tuned, a PTCA retreat is in the works and we’d love you to participate.

The PTCA groups from our OCSU schools are planning a collaborative retreat event on May 14th from 6:00-8:00, and all community members are invited! The focus of the retreat will be on building upon the good work that our PTCA groups are doing now and determining best practices as we move into next year. You can register for the event by going to https://bit.ly/ocsuptca and filling out the short registration form. We hope to see you at the retreat!

Did you know that Orleans Elementary is a VSAC GearUp school?
This partnership give us access to dedicated and highly trained outreach counselor. Their counselors provide group and individual information, support, and counseling on career and postsecondary readiness. Each counselor works closely with school personnel to provide access and opportunities to students
Additional opportunities include:
• college visits
• career exploration and exposure
• academic enrichment programs
• financial literacy and financial knowledge
The last visit we had from our VSAC Counselor, students watched an inspirational speech from Matthew McConaughey and reflected on how what he said applies to them and their own lives and how they deal with challenges. The goal of this activity is to help students identify and reframe a fixed mindset into a growth mindset.

Our March “Outside the Owl’s Nest” recognition goes to the Orleans Village Crew. Today our PTCA delivered donuts made by Rosie Pollatta, and thank-you cards hand-made by our 4th grade students to each employee of Orleans Village. Orleans is lucky to have the best crew working for their village. They serve their community with a smile, keeping our roads in the best conditions all winter, and especially by supporting our school’s need for space for our events without having a gym this year. We are SO appreciative 🦉
If you see them, be sure to say thank you for all they do: John Morley, Shawn Perron, Chris Smith, Matt Menard, Kevin Crews, Chris Ingalls, Tanner Amyot, Garrett Labounty, Becca Lanoue & Marilyn Prue
"Outside the Owl's Nest" is an initiative that the Orleans Parent Teacher Community Association (PTCA) is taking to better embrace the "C" in our name. The goal is to connect with the broader community by supporting, recognizing, and appreciating the individuals, businesses, agencies, etc that encompass our village.
If you have suggestions of how we can support those "Outside the Owl's Nest", please email oesptca@gmail.com.

The Orleans PTCA is looking for nominations for this year's recipient for the Thea Collier Swartz Award, recognizing outstanding contributions to the Orleans Village community.
Throughout our village’s history, community members have volunteered countless hours to improve the quality of life in Orleans. The success of any community is built upon the efforts of individuals committed to serving their community with the desire to make it a better place to live, work, and play. Thea Collier Swartz played a vital role in our community by serving on the Orleans Elementary school board for 15 years. She also volunteered in a variety of roles, including as a reader each year and as a chaperone when needed. Her dedication and commitment to the betterment of Orleans never went unnoticed. The Thea Collier Swartz Award recognizes members of the community who, like Thea, go above and beyond the call of duty to support and strengthen the greater Orleans community.
Guidelines and Eligibility:
- The Thea Collier Swartz Award will be given to someone who:
- Goes above and beyond the call of duty through initiatives and/or is actively involved in the improvement of the community;
