Long-term Facilities Planning Committee Report: OCSU faces significant challenges that require the attention and cooperation of the community to address: the rising costs of education and the subsequent increases in taxation; the need to provide an excellent education for our students in safe, welcoming, and productive settings; the need to alleviate staffing shortages by providing a safe, sustainable, and enriching work environment; and to house our educational enterprise in school buildings that are efficient, functional, and cost-effective. OCSU welcomes Children’s Literacy Foundation Summer Readers and Book Giveaway! Wednesday July 23rd at 9 am join author Natalie Kinsey-Warnock for a presentation outside Orleans Elementary School. All children attending will choose a free book to take home. Children not attending the OCSU summer program must be accompanied by an adult. Rain date it TBD.

Please support the incoming 8th-grade class as they fundraise for their class trip. Rubber ducks for the duck race happening during Glover Day on the 26th of July will be sold at Curriers Market starting July 15th and continuing through the morning of the 26th. Just look for this image to support the class.


8th Grade Duck Race Fundraiser – Volunteers Needed!
The 8th Grade Duck Race fundraiser will begin the week of July 14th and conclude on July 26th (Glover Day). This exciting event helps support the incoming 8th graders' class trip, and we need your help to make it a success! A Google Form has been sent out to organize volunteers. If you are a parent or guardian of an incoming 8th-grade student, please consider donating some of your time or encouraging your student to get involved and volunteer. Your support is greatly appreciated

All incoming Barton and Glover 8th graders are invited to volunteer at Glover Day, July 26, 2025. Manning the annual duck race and snack table, all proceeds will go to the 8th grade class trip. More information to follow, please save the date,

LRUHS Student Art Show—May 23 through June 4


LRUHS Music Department Spring Concert & Senior Solo Night on May 18th
Barton, VT - The Lake Region Union HS presents the annual spring concert and Senior Solo Night on Sunday, May 18th, 7:00 PM at the Barton United Church. This concert features performances by the chorus, select chorus and two selections by the LR Jazz Band. The final set of the night are pieces selected and performed by LR's senior musicians Xander Bradley, Tucker Broe, Lorelai Collins, Alayna Dean, Lydia Knight, and Josiah Quinn. The choral part of the program includes "Now Let Me Fly," "O Danny Boy, " the bluegrass number "Spread Joy over this Land" by Vermont's Patti Casey and American and South African freedom songs. The jazz band will be performing "Night and Day" by Cole Porter and "Feeling Good" by Newley & Briccuse. Senior Solos will be presented by Xander Bradley, Tucker Broe, Lorelai Collins, Alayna Dean, Josiah Quinn, and Lydia (Monty) Knight at sdoncaster@ocsu.org or (802)754-2500 x219. Admission by donation. Proceeds will be used for concert expenses and the LR Music Department Scholarship Fund.

Final Reminder: The PTCA groups from our OCSU schools are planning a collaborative retreat event at Lake Region Union High School on May 14th from 6:00-8:00, and all community members are invited! The focus of the retreat will be on building upon the good work that our PTCA groups are doing now and determining best practices as we move into next year.
